The Island Concert Association presents a concert by the Amernet String Quartet at the St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island, March 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.  There is no charge for the concert, and it is open to the public. A reception to meet the artists follows.

The New York Times praises the quartet’s “intelligence” and “immensely satisfying playing,”  and in their first season together the quartet won the gold medal at the Tokyo International Music Competition in 1992. Their performance schedule has taken the group across The United States and to such international venues as Japan, South Korea, Canada, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Switzerland, and Mexico.

Formed in 1991 while the quartet’s members were students at the Juilliard School, it has risen to international prominence and has been ensemble-in-residence at Florida International University since 2004.  Members of the group are Misha Vitenson, violin, Marcia Littley, violin, Michael Klotz, viola, and Jason Calloway, cello.
