The
Island Concert Association presents a concert by the
Amernet String Quartet
at the St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St.
Simons Island, March 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. There is
no charge for the concert, and it is open to the public. A
reception to meet the artists follows.
The New
York Times praises the quartet’s “intelligence” and
“immensely satisfying playing,” and in their first season
together the quartet won the gold medal at the Tokyo
International Music Competition in 1992. Their performance
schedule has taken the group across The United States and to
such international venues as Japan, South Korea, Canada,
Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Switzerland, and Mexico.
Formed in
1991 while the quartet’s members were students at the
Juilliard School, it has risen to international prominence
and has been ensemble-in-residence at Florida International
University since 2004. Members of the group are Misha
Vitenson, violin, Marcia Littley, violin, Michael Klotz,
viola, and Jason Calloway, cello.
The Island Concert Association
is in its 26th year of offering free concerts by artists of
